A Fast-Action Plan for Immediate Methane Abatement
A Methane Blue Ribbon Panel has been working since Fall 2009 to examine ways to stimulate greater methane abatement for immediate, near-term climate benefits, especially in the world's most sensitive regions. The Panel has held a series of meetings, including a side event at COP-15 issuing its initial report; and is now focusing its efforts on exploring the creation of a specific simplified financing mechanism to stimulate additional voluntary emissions of methane in addition to those encompassed under the Kyoto Protocol and any future climate agreements.
